Ending speculation that the Earnhardt/Ganassi Racing (EGR)team were going to run Toyota Camrys in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup tour, the #1 and #42 cars will remain under the bowtie brigade next season. Reports earlier this week alleged Toyota attempted to court the EGR operations, a team derived largely from Dale Earnhardt Incorporated which had campaigned Chevrolets since its inception into the Cup series in 1997.
While Chip Ganassi has not shown a particular favouring of one brand (Running Ford, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Honda and Toyota badges on open wheel entries as well as Dodge for 8 seasons in NASCAR) the sight of seeing the team founded by Dale Earnhardt Sr, a devout Chevrolet institution, might have been too much for NASCAR fans to accept.
